Small Changes, Big Differences with Home Staging

Ever wonder what exactly is Home Staging?

Home staging is the preparation of a private residence for sale in the real estate marketplace. The goal of staging is to make a home appealing to the highest number of potential buyers, thereby selling a property more swiftly and for more money.

When touring homes for sale, and showing them to clients, I see so many different examples of Home Staging. Whether it’s a full selection of rented furniture and decor to make a vacant house pop, or just some subtle changes to make your home photograph well, the options are endless. Even the smallest staging efforts will help make the photos look better, the viewings last longer, and hopefully the offers arrive quicker.

This video from Designing Spaces featuring home staging expert and author of “The First Seven Seconds”, Karen Conrad helps show what some small changes can do.

A stager will help you declutter, remove personal effects, and create a sense that someone could live here as soon as they walk in the door. Did you know that you should also declutter your closets, cupboards and storage areas? Nothing says too small like closets that explode when you open them or cupboards that are stuffed with junk.

If you are thinking of selling your home, I will gladly have a look, make some suggestions, and when the time comes, arrange for a professional stager to consult on where to start, what to do, and help you make your home look it’s best for a photoshoot.
